In Loving Memory of Jason A. Smith

August 2, 1986 – December 10, 2016

Jason touched every life he encountered with a warmth that lit up the room. He was a loyal friend, a devoted son, and a gentle soul whose laughter and kindness knew no bounds. Jason’s compassion for others was rooted in his faith, and he always extended a hand to those in need—living out the words of Micah 6:8: “...to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

While Jason brought so much joy to others, we are reminded that even those who shine the brightest can face their own battles. If you are struggling, know that you are not alone. Seeking help is not a weakness but a courage that echoes Christ’s call: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and there is always hope. Jason’s life is a testament to the love and support we are called to give each other. In his memory, may we reach out to those in need, offer a listening ear, and never hesitate to seek help ourselves.

Let us honor Jason by carrying forward his compassion, faith, and love for others. May God’s peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), guard our hearts and minds.

Leaving You A Personal Message From Jason:

Before I took off for the military, Jason had bought me a Bible, and as I tearfully left for the bus station, he gave it to me with this note inside:

A Prayer:

Lord, we thank You for the precious gift of life. Comfort us in our grief and inspire us to care for one another. Give us the courage to seek help when we need it and to be a light for others, just as Jason was to many. Amen.”
